Services
It all begins with an idea. Whether you’re looking to change the look of your car, truck, motorcycle, ATV, side by side, or restore patio furniture like new, we can do it.
Quality Process: Powder Coating
-
When you drop off your parts, we’ll go over color samples with you or even shoot a custom sample panel so you can get eyes on the final finish. We stock a lot of swatches. If we don’t have it, we’ll order the swatch for free. 20% down is required at drop off for some custom colors.
-
The plan means we record how many pieces you gave us, what colors on each, and any masking requirements like machined surfaces, high-tolerance areas, bearing races, or threads. We use high-temp tape and plugs to make sure powder doesn’t get where it should not be. We take pictures of your parts and outline colors, masking areas, and other requirements. We also take pictures of your parts through each step of the process.
-
We degrease your parts and place them in a heated strip tank. The old paint, powder, or epoxy finish is stripped chemically, then parts are rinsed and dried.
-
Once stripped, we get a good look at the metal and offer services like rounding sharp edges on stamped steel, grinding casting lines, smoothing out metal, scratches, filling dents with weld or filler, fixing cracks via welding, and preparing the metal to get the highest quality finish possible.
-
Once repairs are complete, media blasting gives a final clean and rough profile to the metal. This profile is not too smooth that the powder doesn’t adhere well, and not so rough that it prevents a smooth finish. This step is mandatory in ensuring the coating is tough as nails.
-
Often, masking areas like threads, machined surfaces, mating surfaces, or any area that needs to be kept raw can be masked through the entire process, if needed. Your parts need to be beautiful and functional when you pick them up.
-
Powder is applied dry and unlike paint, doesn’t require a dry time. The parts are cured in an industrial oven at up to 400 degrees. Once they’re cool to the touch, they’re ready to be put into service. Some parts require special epoxy primers or clear coats that further protect the metal and coating from the elements.
-
The curing process involved heating the parts to 400 degrees for 10-20 minutes. The dry powder melts and cures to it’s final strength during this time. Multiple coats are partially cured to ensure each coat of powder cures together for years of strength, color fastness, and corrosion protection.
-
Once your parts are out of the oven, they are inspected for a final quality. This includes inspecting for light or bares spots, masking errors, whether the powder was fully cured, and powder thickness. If we don’t love it, it doesn’t go out the door.
-
Before pickup, we wrap your parts to make sure they make it home or remain protected through additional services like tire mounting and balancing.
-
At pickup, we’ll have you sign for and pay for the work. Cash, card, Venmo, PayPal, however you like. This will include instructions on how to care for your parts, and if any warranty is offered. We live for feedback from satisfied clients and would love to earn a 5-star Google Review every time.
